Today’s Adventure! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 🇩🇪

We had an exciting day as our Scouts welcomed their friends from Germany, who have been staying at our hall after a week filled with exploration on the Isle of Arran.

Together, we exchanged cultures through lively German songs and shared some cherished Scottish traditions—singing "Loch Lomond," enjoying haggis, shortbread, and some Irn Bru.

After refreshments, our talented piper, Dexter, led everyone back inside for some ceilidh dances, accompanied by live music from Jamie and Thorfinn.

We hope our German Scouts had a fantastic time discovering the beauty of Scotland. Safe travels to all as you return home! 🌍✨

Last night, the Scouts and Explorers had a fantastic time at the Giant Fun Zodiac! They enjoyed a full evening of inflatables, followed by camping out in bivvies. After feasting on burgers and warming up with hot chocolate, they set up bivvys where they could on the grass around the inflatables. This morning, they were greeted by the sound of the fans starting up at 7 AM for one last bounce before heading home!

Patrol Pioneering Challenge

The scouts took on the challenge of constructing the tallest structure on Friday. There were even some designs that we have never seen before.

It was great to see our new Patrol Leaders using their leadership skills to teach our new Scouts how to pioneer.

Norjam’25 - “The Best Camp Ever”
7 days. 7000 participants. A lifetime of memories.

Day 1 saw our contingent set off bright and early from Troon at 1:30am, with a smooth journey down to Norfolk seeing us arrive on site at 10am. We were greeted by our advance party who had already made a good start getting the site set up with our marquee and leaders tents. After we were all off the bus we got to work, having a relaxed day getting most of the site set up. In the evening, we paraded down to the main stage with the rest of the Santa Cruz subcamp for the Opening Ceremony. The evening was filled with singing, dancing, and performances to officially mark the beginning of our time at Norjam’25.

To start off day 2 we had a fairly relaxed morning, allowing the young people to get ready for activities in their own time after being served breakfast by our legendary chef Alex. The mornings activities were based at “Bounce & Rebound”, an activity zone full of inflatables, mega slides, and assault courses. After being back to camp for lunch, our young people set back out to “Festival of Endeavour” for some exhilarating fun, with the Go Karting in this area being a clear favourite. Whilst everyone was out and about, the leaders were hard at work putting together the final pieces of the site together, including our gateway. In the evening, the Young People had free time to explore the marketplace, which was a great opportunity to meet Scouts from across the world. Sunday night was also when the young people discovered DJ Nick, a mainstage act playing music every night for the duration of the camp. DJ Nick quite quickly established himself as one of the troop’s favourite people on site.

Day 3 began with morning activities in “Carnival Central”, an activity space filled with carnival style games to match the overall theme of the camp. After the usual lunch back at camp it was back out to activities for “Creative Corner”. Here young people had the chance to make some keepsakes to take home to help commemorate their time at camp - you may have spotted them sporting a new T-shirt or drinking from a customised glass! Every day on camp from Sunday to Wednesday, young people had the opportunity to audition for a chance to perform on the main stage as part of the daily Norjam’s Got Talent semi-final. So, in the evening, after we were all fed and watered, we headed down to the main stage to support Rose (one of our Young Leaders) in that evening’s Semi-Final. Rose did the 28th proud and breezed her way through into the Grand Final which would take place on Thursday evening. The night then ended with a boogie down at the main stage with DJ Nick

We kicked off the start of day 4 at a fast pace with the “Festival of Velocity” another jam-packed activity base with things such as caving, catapults, and land zorbs. Throughout the day whilst the young people were at the activity bases, the leaders welcomed in lots of visitors who wished to have a look at and climb up onto our gate - we were chuffed to see our hard work being recognised. In the afternoon the young people made a return to “Bounce & Rebound”, with many also coming back to camp to make more supportive signs as news spread of our fantastic Maya making it into Tuesday’s semifinal! After dinner, we once again all headed down to the main stage to show our support. Maya nailed her performance and sailed through to Thursday’s Grand Final, and we could not have been prouder! Later on that evening, Rose took to the stage once again to perform for international night, singing “I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)” by the Proclaimers. The crowd was absolutely jumping and got everyone excited for another evening of dancing with the one and only DJ Nick.

Day 5 was the hottest day on site, so to accommodate for this the Norjam team decided to switch “Fiesta Friday” to “Wild Wednesday” allowing young people to choose any activities that they felt able to do safely in the heat. Throughout the day, another one of our fabulous acts “KD Storm”, a dance duo consisting of Katie and Darcey qualified for the last semi-final of the camp. The troop rallied together again, making signs of support for the girls and once again headed down to the main stage. KD Storm put an incredible upbeat performance for the crowd; we were all dancing alongside them! Unfortunately, they didn’t manage to make it through to the semi-final on the night, but still did the 28th proud. In fact, the girls impressed the audience so much that they were invited to dance onstage alongside the one and only DJ Nick later that evening!

Thursday marked day 6 of camp, and the penultimate day of activities on site. The young people had a relaxed morning back at “Creative Corner” followed by a faster paced afternoon at “Festival of Velocity”. However, the event we were all most excited for was the Norjam’s Got Talent final that would be taking place in the evening. Throughout the day, after having stolen all of Alex’s carboard from the kitchen, the young people (and leaders!) spent their time making even more signs of support for our 2 finalists. Just when we thought our work was done, we had a surprise visit from “Team Talent” who made our day by awarding KD Storm a wildcard into the grand final! It is safe to say everybody was absolutely delighted, having 3 acts in the final was something we could have only dreamed of, and just goes to show how talented the young people in our troop are. Down at the main stage, our contingent was a sea of signs and support - every single one of our young people cheered on our finalists with so much enthusiasm, the troop were absolutely united in our support for the girls. Even though we didn’t win on the night, we could not be prouder of the talent, maturity, and confidence displayed by all 3 acts.

Day 7 was our last day of activities on site, with a morning spent at “Festival of Endeavour” and the afternoon at “Carnival Central”. Whilst the young people were at their activities, the leader team began the process of packing up for a smooth departure the following day. Throughout the day at site, we had one of our Scouts, Dexter, sharing some Scottish culture with the rest of the camp by playing the bagpipes! In the evening, we had our final dinner before going to the main stage one last time, this time for the closing ceremony. The evening was filled with plenty of music and singing, and the young people even managed to get the leaders involved in their dance circle! The ceremony ended with a light show before the final DJ Nick set of the camp. To top off the day we were also awarded “Best Gateway” in the Santa Cruz subcamp, we were absolutely delighted, and rumour has it Steven even shed a tear!

An early start on Saturday morning led to a smooth sailing departure from site. We managed to get the site dropped and vans loaded in record time before loading the coach and heading back up to Troon. After another long journey (but comfortable!) journey on the coach, the contingent arrived back in Troon, greeted by friends and family. Thank you to all the parents and guardians that helped us to unload kit, it really does make the world of a difference in terms of how quickly all the young people and leaders are able to get home.

Thank you all for an incredible week, we hope you are looking forward to our next adventure!
