Welcome back Beavers & Cubs

Beavers and Cubs are ‘Back in Action’ shortly as well as Scouts and Explorers!

Here are a few bits of important / useful information:

Beavers
Tuesday (Rowallan) Colony starts back on Tuesday 23rd Aug (5.30pm to 6.45pm)
Thursday (Fullarton) Colony starts back on Thursday 25th Aug (5.30pm to 6.45pm)
Cubs
Tuesday (Rowallan) Pack starts back on Tuesday 23rd Aug (7pm to 8.30pm)
Thursday (Fullarton) Pack starts back on Thursday 25th Aug (7pm to 8.30pm) Occasionally (OK, probably more often than not) meetings can run over, particularly on a Thursday!

Uniform

There is no longer a Uniform outlet in Troon. Items of Uniform can be purchased from Glasgow Scout Shop in Elmbank Street or via our Group as we place bulk orders to Scoutshops Ltd, therefore you can avoid postage or fuel costs. We can usually sort out the appropriate sizes during a Section Meeting. Our Group Neckies and Woggles can be purchased at the Scout Hall. A separate post on how to roll Neckies will be coming soon!

Information about uniform can be found here.

Contact Details

We will shortly be emailing existing members with a My.Scout link to enable you to check and update personal details as necessary. New members will be emailed the link once your child is entered onto our system. It is vital that we have accurate records should we need to contact you.

Medical

Our annual Medical Forms are now filled out online. These MUST be completed promptly (preferably by the first night or at the latest within 4 weeks of starting back). Your child cannot take part in ANY activities until a medical form has been completed. Essentially go to the link, complete the form (all online) and submit. (see separate email for link).

Gift Aid

An email will come out shortly re Gift Aid. We are recording all Gift Aid now on our Online Scout Manager (OSM) system. It is a simple procedure to go online and complete the declaration.

Spaces

Beavers
Both Colonies are currently full if all our existing Beavers return and those who we have contacted from the waiting list decide to take up a space. Please be aware if your child has a friend or friends who may wish to join, we have a substantial waiting list.
Cubs
Both Packs are currently full if all our existing Cubs return and those who we have contacted from the waiting list decide to take up a space. Please be aware if your child has a friend or friends who may wish to join, we have a substantial waiting list.

Leader Help

We desperately need help in all Sections from Beavers to Explorers to be able to continue our active programme. If you are even slightly interested in knowing more please get in touch with us and we will let you know what is involved.

Holidays

We like to make things as simple as possible. Unless we have a Leader crisis we plan as usual to stay open for normal Section Meetings throughout the Year and only close for Christmas and summer. We realise that other organisations/clubs close for holidays on September weekend, October week, Easter, May Day etc. but we usually stay open. There always are some who think that if the schools are off so are we. This is only the case for Christmas and summer.

We hope that all our existing Members will be returning as we have a new and exciting programme ahead. Should this not be the case however, can you please let us know so that we can make any necessary changes to our register etc. New members, new and improved faces in the Leader Team, new programme and lots of things planned for the coming year – 2016/2017 looks set to be very exciting and packed with action!

We are going to be using more functions in our Online Scout Manager (OSM) system including inviting members to various events including sleepovers, activities and camps. You will get an email when appropriate, inviting your child to participate in an event. You need to answer Yes or No via the link in the email. If you don’t respond then the system automatically sends out reminders. Also nearer the event a reminder will automatically be sent out to those who have answered yes (those we expect to be attending). There will also be deadlines that we need answers by. This is mostly new to us and there are bound to be teething issues so please bear with us. Ultimately it should make our volunteer lives a lot easier when running events but should also make it easier for you to respond. *Please be aware that any system we use relies very heavily on getting responses from you and within the required time.

For people who missed it “The Year in Pictures 2015/16 Recap” video can be found here.

We hope you all had a fantastic summer.

Looking forward to seeing you all back!
