New Activity Badges Released

Over the past four years The Scout Association has put considerable effort into gauging the relevance and success of the existing programme, and supporting publications and resources. Through 2011 and 2012 they consulted with over 12,000 members through focus groups, surveys, social media and events. A particular effort was made to gather the views of young people across the 6-25 age range, and adults such as section leaders who deliver the programme. One of the outcomes of this consultation was a need to refresh the activity badge requirements, and create some new badges.

While the new revised programme isn’t due to launch till 2015, The Scout Association have been able to identify some new activity badges in the Beaver, Cub, Scout and Explorer sections that can launch now. These are brand new badges and don’t replace or affect any other existing badges, so there is no need to wait until 2015 for them to be used. The new badges for each section are:
